Department Description
Facilities Management, Building Maintenance Services, is a mix of multi-talented, multi-skilled trade’s personnel who are experienced in all areas of building mechanical, electrical, plumbing and structural systems. Our mission is to provide cost effective, operationally efficient services in the maintenance repair and renovation of the physical structures of the University of California, Davis, in support of its academic objectives of learning, teaching, research and Public Service.
Job Summary
Under general direction of the Structural Superintendent, execute a comprehensive, annual fire door inspection, test, maintenance, and deficiency repair program of all fire doors on the University of California, Davis campus. Use Facilities Asset Management Software to execute inspections, document deficiencies, capture required information and generate reports. Provide general locksmith services for the associated maintenance, repair, alteration, and replacement of rated door assemblies and components.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Climb ladders, crawl, stoop, bend and work in tight, cramped areas.
Wear and maintain standard, approved Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as gloves, hearing, and eye protection

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is a critical position and subject to background check. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background investigation including criminal history and identity check.
This position is subject to Medical Surveillance procedures and review in accordance with Federal and State Laws and Regulations and University Policy.
This position is subject to completion of a preplacement medical exam provided by Employee Health Services, given at no charge to the applicant.
Work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious diseases are present; specific hazards of the position include, but are not limited to, asbestos-containing insulation, gypsum-based materials and finishes, and adhesives; lead-containing paint and other surface treatments; paint solvents and petroleum distillates;
Must become a Certified Fire and Egress Door Inspector. Training to be completed within 12 months of hire. Classes and course material costs covered by university.
Work alone or in a team environment and within heavily populated spaces.
Employee will be required to carry University provided radios, cell phones, pagers or other telecommunications equipment
Valid CA driver’s license required. Position will participate in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Pull Notice System. A copy of DMV record will be required as a final condition of employment.
If the successful applicant does not already have certifications to safely abate asbestos and lead-containing materials, they will be required to obtain such certifications as provided by the Department.
Employee is personally responsible for following and adhering to Departmental Injury Illness Plan and University Safety procedures and guidelines.
May be required to work a non-standard work week including one or both days of the weekend. Occasional overtime will be required. Will occasionally be asked to work during UC or national holidays. Vacation usage may be limited during peak workload periods.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Working knowledge to inspect, maintain, service, repair, replace, install and/or alter doors and door components related to craft functions.
Experience using common hand and power tools safely and effectively.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience reading blueprints, interpreting technical data, specifications, schematics, and manufacturer installation instructions sufficient to perform assigned duties under general supervision.
Knowledge of fire door inspection criteria.
Interpersonal, oral and written communications to interact professionally with all levels of management, clients, regulators, contractors, craft workers and counterparts
Computer skills to manage work assignments, schedules, record keeping, report development, and correspondence along with experience with Excel, Word, and Microsoft Projects.
Preferred:
Knowledge to interpret, learn, and apply University, and Facilities Management policies and procedures.
Skill to clearly record pm data with asset information and material/ labor usage.
Knowledge of and skill to apply building codes pertaining to fire, life safety and accessibility.
Experience inspecting, testing, performing preventive maintenance, making repairs, and documenting test/work history on door assemblies.
Certification as asbestos and/or lead maintenance or remediation worker.
